Three Easy-to-Use Functions:

Since the SEMI standard allows the semiconductor manufacturer to vary the character height, width, thickness, and pitch, "Calibrate" is a function that needs to be run once to automatically derive these parameters directly from the given sample image. The user also has the option of specifying the fielding constraints as specified in the SEMI standards: alpha (a-z), numeric (0-9), alphanumeric (a-z, 0-9) and delimiters (space, -, .) in order to increase speed and accuracy of OCR.

The font parameters computed from the calibration function can be saved as in a file (recipe), and then subsequently loaded into SII's system with the "Initialize" function. In this way, one needs to perform calibration only once. If the system needs to be rebooted, or switched to different wafer product lines, the recipes can be loaded instatntly by using the initialize function.

The "OCR" function reads the image and identifies the characters represented by the image. This function outputs a confidence factor between 0 and 100 for each character, a composite factor between 0 and 100 of the entire string of characters, and the position coordinates of each character within the image. It also can provide the orientation angle of the Wafer-ID (OCR) string.
